Packaging
The packaging colors are muted and imagery is throwback – the pictures are not drawings but they’re more than a photo.  There’s a 1960’s era Kodak Instamatic on the six-pack matching the Snapshot name. The flat hues and bold contrasting colors stand out on the shelf as clearly from New Belgium brewing.  And it’s that imagery which makes it fun and inviting — I wanted to try this beer because of the packaging.  That, and I love a good wheat beer.

From the Brewer
Snapshot is a product of New Belgium Brewing — an employee owned independent brewer based out of Fort Collins, Colorado.  Their site has a very modern design that is based on a throw-back color palate. It really feels like the early sixties the more you browse around.

Snapshot is one of 10 beers in New Belgium’s year-round lineup   With 5% ABV, Snapshot is noted as an unfiltered wheat beer.

Color
Thanks again to BeerColor.com for providing a fantastic tool for determining beer color. After comparing both scales to Snapshot, the color is a 5 in Degrees Lovibond which makes it a Deep Straw beer.

Taste
Snapshot has a flat and clean start, aromas of yeast and hops.

Its middle is yeasty – mixed with hints of lemon but that quickly overwhelmed by the bubbly effervescence of the brew.

It ends with a distinctively lemony sourness and that sour lingers, almost too much.

I think you really should drink Snapshot with some fatty food to help balance out the sour. Its best matched with a heavy beef stew or even a bowl of cashews. I was disappointed; I really could not enjoy this beer on its own.
